How often do you find yourself discounting your accomplishments? It is so easy to do. I am a runner, but not a fast runner. I run races but I don’t win. I swim but…
What other ways do you do this to yourself and how do you make those voices stop?

Oh my gosh, Ann I so do this! Especially at races! I usually think the last race was a fluke, or I do well on hills but this is a flat course, so…. I need to figure out how to be positive and confident!
Thank you so much for posting this! It made me realize that I do this not only with my running, but with most facets of my life. I hadn’t planned on making any resolutions this year, but if I can change this one thing about myself this year, I think it will make a huge difference.
As you say, I’m afraid of people thinking I’m showing off, or pretending to be something I’m not, and you’re absolutely right, when I discount and belittle my accomplishments, it takes away from me.
Thanks, this was just what I needed.
Loved it! I do the same thing with my swimming. In fact, I talked myself out of triathlons because of not liking my slowness in the water compared to the run/ road. I don’t do it about running or riding, though, just the swim. Well, now I’m back, and I need this! More positive self talk and removing/ changing the negative comments.
